Biohazard Response (8)

A prerequisite for the course is the 24-hour or 40-hour emergency response course number 1910.120. The course is designed for trained emergency response personnel, such as fire departments, who are tasked with the responsibility to enter potentially or actually contaminated biohazard sites. Course topics include recognition and characteristics of biohazard types, such as Anthrax or Smallpox, methods of exposure, symptoms, treatments, collection of samples, on-site and off-site testing methods, personal protective equipment, decontamination methods for emergency response personnel and equipment, the role of outside state and local government agencies and other weapons of mass destruction.
